In Hockey, although Hockey fights are not exactly viewed positively by some people, the truth is that these so-called fights are already a widely-accepted aspect of this physical game. Although not officially permissible, these fights are not discouraged either. In professional men’s leagues however, such as the National Hockey League, this routine of fighting is often allowed. For women’s hockey nonetheless, these acts are highly censored.
Oftentimes, these Hockey fights are not an authentic showing of feelings and aggressiveness but more for show, rather. However, there are instances when the skirmishes get out of hand. In these instances, if the players are not disqualified, they get reprimanded accordingly.

It is understandable how Hockey aficionados are more than keen on watching fights during games. These fans are aware that in Hockey, body contact and aggressiveness are often common. These fights typically exist due to a few objectives. This is done oftentimes by teams as a way to protect their respective players. By battling one another, territories are mapped out and the leaders of the game are made clearer. The start-off sign of fighting is when either of the team members drops their gloves and sticks.
As an offensive strategy by the teams, strong and brawny players are positioned in order to face the opponents as enforcers. These players are often tasked to fight when the game is already in full swing. What the enforcers do is to provoke the other team members into agreeing to a fight. Since these players are well-compensated, they are practiced enough in executing fighting stunts for the purpose of entertainment.
While Hockey fights are known to be physically aggressive and violent, these are nevertheless necessary when it comes to keeping the behavior of the players in check. It can balance out scores and allow for payback quite efficiently. Although some of the leagues like American Hockey League do have certain rules regarding this, fighting abilities in Hockey are highly considered in this kind of physical game.
