The most famous and oldest tennis competition of all times has started yesterday in Flushing Meadows, New York City. The 2009 edition of the US Open Grand Slam will be played this season between August 31 and September 13. All Men and Women world class tennis stars are ready to play for the 4th Grand Slam title of the season.
Roger Federer had the pleasure to start the Men’s race, on Monday, against local wildcard, David Britton. The World No.1 played as usual and obtained a straight sets win in front of a delighted Arthur Ashe attendance. The day continued with Serena Williams on US Open’s centre court. She also won in straight sets.
Venus Williams did not have an easy night. She opened the night session on the Arthur Ashe and had to battle for almost 3 hours against Vera Dushevina for a place in the 2nd round of US Open 2009. Local favorite, Andy Roddick, completed the Day 1 at the US Grand Slam with an easy 6-1\6-4\6-2 win over Bjorn Phau.
Day 2 will see the likes of Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and many other stars engaging for the big crown. If you are not at home you can watch US Open 2009 online too. Don’t miss it, it will be spectacular!
